Accessibot - Accessibility Chatbot
An accessibility chatbot made using Jotform.
1. The brief...
During my recent AI course one of the assignments that needed to be completed was called 'The Capstone Project'. We were given a choice of 8 different tasks from a presentation to a chatbot, I chose Chatbot.
2. The idea...
I gained an interest in accessibility in design during the TechUP Women course in 2024. I wanted to create a Chatbot that would help people with accessibility issues to navigate a website, helping them with things like adjusting the brightness, using keyboard navigation, alt text, text to speech etc. I wanted the user to be able to ask my chatbot (Accessibot) to adapt the website to help them to navigate more easily. For example, the user could ask to change the brightness of the screen and the chatbot would be able to do this without the user having to.
3. The process...
I researched the Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to help me facilitate this idea. Looking closely at what problems people with accessibility issues face when it comes to visiting a website.
I then began building my chatbot but I quickly realised I would need to learn how to code to make my actual chatbot idea work as I would have to change the front end code of the actual website and not just add the chatbot.
After more research I discovered that within the timeframe of the project this wouldn't be possible. So I trained the chatbot to help the user with the navigation by explaining how to adapt the website themselves until I could further develop the chatbot.
4. The result...
The result is a Chatbot named Accessibot that will help people with accessibility issues while viewing my portfolio. (He is in the bottom right corner)
5. The tools...
